As someone who used straighteners when she was 13 I can tell you they do not work. Your hair will become damaged and that isn't what you want. As I said in another answer, get a good cut and use products made for your hair type. You just need to spend time learning how to work with your hair after you find someone to give a good cut.

Straighteners do dry out your hair in the end, because of their heat. You could try a kind of heat-protecting spray for your hair before you straighten, or try a ceramic plate straightener.

whether done chemically, or with straightener iorns......only a professional should be allowed to do it. at best even with condioners it will do damage. hair should not be color treated, or permed, and you should take a test strand. if your hair is strong it can look naturally straight, and give you the hair you have been wishing for. hair is like skin..........harsh things hurt it.

they dry and your hair very badly. i would suggest a hair dryer because after a while of straightning your hair it will get so damaged you cant even do it anymore or else it will fall out

Well...I use a straightner, and I also use Herbal Essence Pin Straight Shampoo and Conditoner, it makes my hair soft. First I use the soap, then I blow dry and then I straighten it. I have shoulder length red hair, but it is really thick so I tend to pull it up. It irritates me to wear it down at school. Hope this helps

If you take care of your hair, use the right products, etc, then that's ok. I've been straightening my hair since i was 11 and it's fine. i'm 24 now and it still looks nice and shiny.
