When you get out of the shower and use a heat activated mousse or even your shampoo is heat activated than hot.

Personally i like it better hot.

I'm truly not an expert, but have read many times that it is best to let your hair air dry for awhile, and then finish with a bit of warm air, and finish with a cold blast. the cold blast seems to set the hair in place better. I have tried this and found it to be best for my hair, to keep it styled longer, and not damaged so much. Good luck.

Really hot air can damage hair follicles. Untangle hair while wet. Make sure you put on a leave in conditioner. Do not use more than 1100 watt hair dryer. 1100 watts lessens chances of damaging hair. Don't forget to hold the dryer at least 3 inches away from your hair using down strokes. Do not rotate in circle. That creates fly aways.

my best friend's mom is a cosmetologist and hair dresser. she told me and my other friends about stuff for our hair. it is really badfor your hair to be washed in hot water. cold is the best. but she said lukewarm to the cool side is really good. she said that if you hate cold showers then wear a shower cap at first when its hot then take it down to the cooler area and let your hair out of the shower cap. then shampoo and condition. o and if your hair takes more than an hour to dry if you just towel dried your hair, then you have too much moisture in your hair. or if its still wet after you towel dried it then blow-dried it a bit after half an hour, then you have too much moisture. but i know this is right because it works. and if you wash your hair in the cool side it keeps the color in your hair longer, so you dont get gray hair easily if you do that when you get older.

I let my hair air dry for about 10 minutes or so. comb it out etc.but my hair is thick. then i put whatever product I'm going to use that day in it. IE mousse or gel. then to get volume i flip my head upside down and blow dry the back on hot and high speed for a few minutes using my fingers to move the hair. after i flip my head back to normal i put it on the warm and start to style it with a big round brush.clipping up sections to work on the back first then the sides and then the top etc. when i am done with one section like the back i take the brush and blow dry it using the cool setting i have one that has cool and a cool button. i hold the cool button down. cool air just like cool water closes the hair follicles and makes that nice shiny look. go from back to front, every time your wanna lock the section in use the cool button or whatever u have that says cool.
