i have tried strighting it then but it won't even go stright, then puting gel in it. (still won't work)

You probably weren't straightening your hair correctly... you need a ceramic plated flat iron, a good quality one, not some cheap one from Wal-Mart. It takes a long time to straighten curly hair. Or maybe your hair is too short... you said you wanted a fohawk, not amohawk, right? Hair can be too short to straighten.

And you also need hair glue or wax, not just gel.
